- Recycling Home PickupPosted on: 2009-12-03In January, Allied Waste, a Republic Services company, will bring recycling to Helena. All residents of the city of Helena are invited to participate in a creative and rewarding way to protect the environment. Allied Waste has partnered with RecycleBank to offer a hassle-free, single-stream recycling program that rewards you for “going green.” Single-stream recycling is a convenient way for you to recycle without separating any of your recycling items. Every participant will receive a large, convenient, 95-gallon cart for recycling items.
Allied Waste and RecycleBank partnered with the city of Helena to reward households for recycling. Households earn RecycleBank Reward Points that can be used to shop at over 1,500 local and national businesses. The more you recycle, the more RecycleBank Reward Points you earn. Simply place all of your recyclables (plastics 1-3, plastic milk and detergent jugs, steel and aluminum cans, newspaper, cardboard, boxes and paper products) into your new cart, and roll it out to the street on your assigned pick-up day. Allied Waste’s modern collection trucks are equipped with a device that will automatically record and transmit the weight of the collected recyclables to RecycleBank.
RecycleBank Reward Points are earned based on the amount recycled and can be used at local and national retailers, or donated to non-profit organizations and schools. Just a few of the businesses that participate include CVS Pharmacy, Publix, Winn Dixie and Petco…and many more! You can earn hundreds of dollars in rewards each year!!!
Base recycling service will be offered by Allied Waste to your area for $6.79 per month. You can add the RecycleBank Rewards Program to your standard recycling service for the additional cost of only $1.00 per month! You can be earning rewards worth up to $540.00 per year for only $7.79 a month! What a way to help your family, community AND the environment.
The City of Helena is the first city to have the opportunity to bring this exciting program to Alabama!

1. To set up your recycling account and have your cart delivered before January 1, 2010, contact Allied Waste Services at (205) 923-1650 or simply e-mail us at custservbham@republicservices.com
2. Then just watch your mail! In January, RecycleBank will send you a confirmation notice with your activation code, instructions to activate your account and information on how the rewards program works. The recycling program will start January 1, 2010 and the RecycleBank Rewards Program will go into effect February 1, 2010…so get started today!
